Read, read, and read some more. Double your reading, double your fun reading contest. In six weeks, students have been challenged to double their reading time. We will finish with an assembly on March 15th with many great prizes donated by local businesses to give away. Primary students are given a draw ticket for each day that they read on the bus or at home. Intermediate and secondary students are challenged to double their reading time each week, and receive a draw ticket for every 200 minutes that they read and record.
Beanie Baby book reviews – sharing your favorite books really does pay off! Primary students are using a guided format to tell about their favorite books. Intermediate and secondary students are writing and talking about their recently read books, during lunch and class visits to the library. Each day at each age level one winner is drawn and they can choose a displayed beanie baby to take home. The response has been great and students are practicing public speaking and writing about some great books.
Battle of the Books – Six groups of intermediate students are busy reading with the May challenge in sight. Teams will be asked questions about the 40+ books on their team’s list with a chance of winning some cash prizes for each of the team members.
