Prespatou – Jr. Skills Competition at Skills Canada BC

On January 23 a number of grade 8 and 9 students attended the Jr. Skills Competition in Dawson Creek, put on by Skills Canada BC. Two grade 9 students attended the Women in Trade seminar, seven grade 9 students attended the Try a Trade portion of the event and five grade 8 students participated in the Spaghetti Bridge Building Competition. Congratulations to all our students who attended.

A great big thank you goes out to Mr Aitken and Miss Hayes who both attended as teacher sponsors.

Miss Hayes said “Well, we did not place in the competition, but this bridge did hold the full weight for the time needed! Unfortunately it shifted a bit during the competition and touched the side of the platform so it was disqualified. Next year we just need to refine the design to be a bit narrower and we might place! The kids had a lot of fun and did a great job with their designs.”
